Wouldn’t it be nice if we could be perfectly grounded and centered at all times? But that is impossible. There are bumps and waves and shocks to the system that perturb even the most serene beings. The better measure is not whether we get knocked off our center, but how well we can find it in the first place and then consistently find it again.
Rev. Nell Newton completed her ministerial internship at SMUUF in 2015 and has wandered far and wide since then. Most recently, she served the church in San Antonio, but is now a free-range preacher. She lives in Austin with her family, three cats, a flock of chickens, and an overgrown garden.
