New Member Ceremony

We aspire to build the Beloved Community. We will start where we are and work with what we have. And that is where we hit our first challenge – because what we have are People in all our silly, gritty, noisy glory. While welcoming our new members, we’ll have to consider how a covenant-making, covenant-breaking, and covenant-remaking people might do well.

Rev. Nell Newton completed her ministerial internship at SMUUF in 2015 and has wandered far and wide since then. Most recently she served the church in San Antonio, but is now a free-range preacher. She lives in Austin with her family, three cats, a flock of chickens, and an overgrown garden.
