Welcome to the San Marcos Unitarian Universalist Fellowship!

TXUUJM Legislative Action Day, Monday March 17, Capitol in Austin and Interfaith Dinner, Sunday March 16

MESSAGE FROM REV. ERIN ABOUT TXUUJM LEGISLATIVE ACTION DAY:
Good morning, Texas UUs and our justice-seeking friends! The Texas UU Justice Ministry team is so excited to gather at the Capitol with you and with our partners on Monday, March 17!
I know you are eager for the registration link. Please know it’s on the way. We are deepening our work with our partners Texas Impact and Friendship West, and good collaboration and logistics can take time. As long as you have March 17 on your calendar to be with us in Austin, you are in good shape!

I am currently out with what I suspect is the flu, but as soon as I am well, I will make a video for you, sharing more about what to expect from this year’s TXUUJM Legislative Action Day. We have taken in your feedback from previous years and are excited for more of what you love — the rally around our issues, singing on the rotunda, visits with legislators, youth caucus, group photo in our yellow shirts (with cool new design for 2025!), UU fellowship and spiritual grounding for our work — as well as more time for advocacy training and interfaith partner connections.

NEW THIS YEAR: There will be an interfaith dinner on Sunday night and a legislative breakfast and additional legislative visits on Tuesday morning, for those who are local or can stay overnight. If you are an Austin-area UU or friend who can offer home hospitality to out-of-towners, please contact organizer Michelle Venegas-Matula at michelle @ TXUUJM . org
If you can only stay for Monday, rest easy! We will have a full and meaningful day for you that will be well worth the trip.

TXUUJM Legislative Action Day serves many purposes, including:

  • supporting UU faith formation and relationship building across congregations,
  • helping foster regional strategies among UU justice activists,
  • understanding the Capitol as “our house” and “the people’s house,”
  • training us and strengthening our skills and resolve to be in touch with our legislators about our issues and values not just one day but all year, every year,
  • training our youth as a next generation of UU leaders,
  • bearing witness to the perspectives and truths shared by our partners,
  • demonstrating to legislators that progressive people of faith are an organized force and that extremist Christian nationalists do not own the language of faith,
  • bringing music and joy to the Capitol,
  • and much more.
