Welcome to the San Marcos Unitarian Universalist Fellowship!

Come Join SMUUF at the Veterans Day Parade Saturday,  Nov. 9, 2024!

From Shannon FitzPatrick, On-Site Parade Manager

PLEASE wear your bright yellow  SMUUF T-shirt if you have one. Be aware that the parade rules state that “No political candidacy signs, banners, or t-shirts” will be allowed, so T-shirts with “Love” are always the best!  That being said, I have seen people in years past bring photos of loved ones who served in a war (I love the photo of my father in his Navy uniform in WWII), and I think anyone who wants to bring a photo would be welcome to!

Parking will be a challenge, so get there early if you need to park. The City recommends parking at City Park, the Old Fish Hatchery Building, and Rio Vista Park., which probably has the most spots.

The parade line-up will take place from 8:30 AM – 9:45 AM with the parade starting promptly at 10:00 AM. The parade organizers will tell us where our space is.  Look for me (Shannon).  I’ll have the big SMUUF vinyl banner I’ll need help holding!

The parade will begin on Hopkins Street at the intersection of CM Allen Parkway and will travel toward the Hays County Courthouse. After passing the Courthouse, the parade will turn left onto Guadalupe Street, then turn left onto San Antonio Street, travel down San Antonio Street and turn left onto CM Allen Parkway. The parade will then turn right onto Hopkins Street where they will return to the line-up area for disbanding.
