I want to invite you to a good opportunity to help Get Out the Vote(GOTV) in the upcoming November 5 Election! Our SMUUF Social Justice Team has applied for and received supplies to send postcards to low propensity voters encouraging them to vote. We are hosting a Postcard Party in the Fellowship Hall after church this coming Sunday, September 8, to invite you to help us handwrite these postcards! After you grab your coffee and a snack, find your way to our tables to participate in this valuable project!
Details:
- SMUUF Social Justice applied for a grant from TXUUJM to participate in this non-partisan project called “Reclaim Our Vote.”
- We have received 500 blank postcards, 500 stamps, 500 addresses, a script, 500 stick-on-labels with voting info, and instructions.
- Some members of our Social Justice Team — Jeannie, Shannon, Willow, and Robyn — have created packets of 20 postcards each, with all the supplies included with colored ballpoint pens.
- We have 20 separate packets that individuals need to help us complete. You can get the instructions from us and start on the packets at our Postcard Party, then take the rest home.
- The completed handwritten postcards are due back to us on Sunday, September 15.
