Voices at the Table – Reproductive Justice – August 4th, 2024 at 1:00 pm

Join us for a conversation with Cerena Haefs on the current state of women’s rights and reproductive justice, where we can discuss practical ways to make a difference.

Cerena is the Austin Community Outreach Specialist for Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas. She started her advocacy journey in 2018 by joining the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) collegiate chapter. After attending a conference in Washington D.C., she came back to college, changing her major to Political Science and became a Voter Registrar Canvasser with JOLT.

In 2019, Cerena started working with the Texas Freedom Network and created a Texas Rising chapter at Stephen F. Austin State University, winning Student Leader of the Year in 2021. After the fall of Roe, she steered from voting advocacy work to reproductive justice, graduated, and moved to Austin to focus her organizing skills in creating a better reproductive landscape in Texas.

The San Marcos Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is pleased to invite you to another presentation of Voices at the Table. The free speakers series designed to build understanding of different perspectives and experiences takes place on the first Sunday of the month. Attendees are invited to bring their questions and engage in lively dialogue. The title of the series, Voices at the Table, comes from a program of town halls Sandra Organ Solis held during COVID to address race in Hays County following a hate incident in Wimberley. The SMUUF series continues the work she started and enlarges the scope to include religious and spiritual groups, racial and ethnic groups, LGBTQIA, and other marginalized populations.
