Although the Southside building is undergoing some remodeling, SMUUF Food Healers were not discouraged and still served Unity Stew in the atrium of the building rather than the usual dining room on Monday, May 13. Patrons received their stew as takeout this time, so we didn’t get to talk with them as much as usual, but they were very appreciative. Some of their comments included:
“You’re better than Burger King!” and “I liked it so much, I had two servings.”
Servers this month were Barbara Jacobson, JB Allen, Rasmey Raymond, Lisa Cradit, and Judy Telford. Comments from the servers included, “This is really fun. Let’s do it again!”
SMUUF Food Healers provide the meal from 4:00 to 5:00 pm on the second Monday of each month. We serve Unity Stew (a Universal Meal) and fruit to people who are food-insecure on the second Monday of each month. Our recipes avoid the top nine food allergens in the US. We have fun and are grateful to be able to provide this nourishing food.Come join the fun and help the community as well. For more information and to sign up, click here or ask Lisa (lcradit@tlu.edu) to sign you up. We can always use more volunteers! Our next serving opportunity is June 10.
